Are pathway lights the lights at the bottom of the doors, that shine on the ground when you open the doors? Because if they are, my car has the lights on the bottom of the doors but on the front doors only. Also under the dash where the footwell lights would be, there is a hole with a plastic cover over it. To me it seems like there are different versions of the interior lights. Maybe like regular, deluxe, ultimate (ambient package)? I dunno.

er yeah sorry about that. Mixed up pathway lighting. Can someone edit the thread title?
bruce_miranda's seems to be the best DIY I can find to setup footwell lights and from there I think I can try to make it work so I can get some lights under my car to work together with my dome. If anyone gets this done first please share.

I used to have the led strip just there where we have our pathway lights, so as you opened the door they would pop on and swing open together with the door. This was on my previous car, not the e60. That was quite nice: about400mm of 5050 leds. Why dont you try that? Stick em underneath the doors on the inside just in front of the rubber band, it shouldnt be a problem when you shut the door.
