My Ride: 2005 525i M Sport Automatic Gearbox Front Seat Heating Leather interior Media Package

Hi all

I have a September 2005 525. What are my options for getting my ipod connected amd approximately what sort of costs? Im not bothered about full integration with I drive, would just be happy with a plug in lead to the iPod, and preferably a charging option?

Advice appreciated

What's the difference between an english ipod, an american ipod and a german ipod ?
And between a 525 from Germany and your car ? Do UK E60 need another type of connection for the ipod ?

There are three options I'm aware off:

1) Simplest - get the dealer to fit the Aux input assuming you don't already have it. Has to be the dealer as it has to be enabled in the software.

2) Medium - get the dealer to fit the BMW iPod adapter, as above has to be the dealer as it needs to be enabled in the software.

3) Hard - but possibly easier if your car can already play MP3 CDs and have a CD changer as anybody can fit it, if not the dealer will need to enable both options, fit the gateway 500.

Option 1 gives you no option to directly charge the iPod but you could always use a normal cigarette lighter cable. Option 2 isn't really any cheaper than option 3 and I personally think its not as good. I have option 3 and it enables me to keep my CD changer and output video from my ipod to screens in the back. I'd expect all three options to cost between ?150 and ?250.
