I know that tire size has been hit quite a few times around here but I can't seem to find anyone who has run what I am proposing on non- sport suspension. I have a 2006 pre-LCI 550i with non-sport suspension and I just took off a set of 19" miro 111's when the rear tires wore out to put the stock 17" wheels back on. I would like to put the Miro's back on but am enjoying the ride quality of the 17's now :-/. I had the common 245/35/19 on the front and 275/30/19 on the back. I was doing some comparisons on tire rack and found that going with 245/40/19 on the front would result in a total wheel height of a hair less than an inch higher and with 285/35/19 on the back, the total wheel height change was also about an inch. The biggest difference in the back was the inch or so wider total tire width. Has anyone done this? Would the rears fit? Does anyone with experience with this kind of setup think these would make the car look weird?

Depending on the offsets of your wheels they fit fine. I had 305/30/19's on the back of my 550 with no issues. I had the standard 245/35's on the front. Not sure why you would want to put a 245/40 on the front though

I want to do this to soften the ride a bit and protect the rim....305's on the back, huh? I'll bet that looks great! got any rear view pics?
