Will 167 OEMs with m6 tires fit a non M e60?

Why I ask? It seems some say spacers are need for the front on the e60 to flush the edge. So it would seem there is enough room for the front 255s. For the rears there might be a problem because of the larger 17 et offset. Curious because I've read posters noting that the 166 oem with m5 rubber (285 width I think) doesn't rub on the rear.

I'd like to run wider rubber if possible. I've seen pics of the m6 offsets with 245 fronts and 275 rears in 167 or 166 styles and the look isn't aggressive enough. Like the wheels are flushed to edge but the rubber looks too narrow. The rear stance is the most notable.

I read about rolling fenders but this seems to be a last resort.

Any thoughts?

Btw. Simplfying my question. Anyone put on 167 wheels straight from a m6?

Thanks.

M6/M5 wheels are ok but not with M6/M5 tyres.

edit: M6/M5 tyres are not only wider, they also have a higher profile and therefore won't fit the non-M E60.

Thanks for the insight. I had forget about the higher profile and the higher profile is noticeable now that you mention it.

That said, isn't it the width that causes the rubbing, as there is considerable height clearance? Or do I have this backward?

Sorry for the dumb questions. But when you hear people saying only the fronts m5 166s will rub, you start to think, hey wait. Of course you couldn't mix two different profiles.

I think it's mostly the higher profile of the M5 tyre that causes rubbing, and I know some people are driving on 255/35 R19 in front and 275 or even 285/30 R19 in rear on a non-M5. But when you go near the limits, it's the shape of the tyre's shoulder and the wheel offsets that adjudicate will they rub or not.

The M5 rears would probably rub too. The rear fenders in M5 are the same as in non-M5, except that they are rolled by manufacturer already.

M5 use a bigger profile tire and will rub. See this topic and you will know everything about the correct tire size for the E60: How to choose the tire size?

True M6 wheels don't need spacers.

+1 no spacers are needed for OEM 167s. recommended tire sizes for a non-M e60 with those wheels and what we'd advise to stick to are 245/35/19 and 275/30/19.

Thanks all for the information. Thought there was a way to luck out and slap on some 167s from an m6.

Nerweezzy, what spacers would you recmommend for 124s?

I'm not Nerwyll, but can give an answer:
- 5mm front
- 12-15mm rear

Make sure they're hubcentric (rear ones). The 5mm spacer is so thin that the original lip of a wheel hub will stick through the spacer and center the wheel.
