Hi,
I see the same thing from my rear view mirror. I had assumed that reflection comes from the tint film "hugging" the rear window defoger strips. Because the film have to, sort of, go around the strips, it creates a little ripple each time the film touches a defoger strip. It is the ripples in the film that causes the light to distort and creates the line reflections.
I've gotten used to it and it does not bother me....

I had the same issue with my E60. It's expected. m37all1ca said it perfectly.

Does it matter what type of film is used? Does this problem occur for all types of film? I'm thinking the auto dimming feature of our mirrors are causing this problem.. maybe a broadway mirror could eliminate the problem?

The installers have to use a heat gun to shrink the tilt film to the shape of the glass. Often this causes erratic optical effects because the heated film has slightly varying thinkness. This is normal, and there isn't much you can do about it short of removing the film and re-installing new film. Removing film is not easy to do, and should be avoided on rear windows because of the risk for damaging the defroster lines.
I say try to live with it if the tint looks fine otherwise.
