DAm i have been having the same issue. I have sports package, Mtech kit with the hamann splitter i have such a hard time driving up my driveway without scratching the bottom so i dont know if i lower it how would it affect my driving as far as dips and my driveway. If i don't have the front add on lip its fine, but lowering the car and with the kit dam it. I know it looks so sweet with the fender and rims gap but driving is a pain and driveways are a pain. STill debating LOL.

Here are some pics of my 20s with recommended tires size/ 275/30/20 rear, 245/35/20 front
Who recomended these? These are not the recomended size for 20s. The right size is 25/20 rear and 30/20 front. I did the calculations on another post awhile ago and not sure if it was your car or another one with the same sizes you have but you have increase your overall diamater and you have cut your torque by 4 percent. You can search for my other post to see the detailed calculation.

However that is about 18 foot pounds or so which is signifigant.

I checked a few different sites when purchasing my tires and they all gave me 30/20 rear and 35/20 front. I purchased them from tirerack. 25/20 rear is too low for me. I drive with extreme caution with the 30s on!

your car looks sick! jamal and nice wheels! what are they? and do you have spacers in the rear?

we got the same color 5er and the height does look good with the 20s

thanx for the input and nice pics also.
No prob. They're Asanti AF 147s Chrome with black pockets. No spacers.

Well its fine, other than you have more chance of bottoming out your car, wrecking your suspension and losing torque. BMW comes up with a rolling diameter and adjusts the suspension and car to this. You cannot just change the diameter of the wheels/tires and technically not adjust the suspension. As long as you are not tracking the car I am sure it wont matter but your suspension partrs will wear worse and likely unevenly. Plus you lose torque! Why get a 545 if you are interested in losing performance with mods-makes little sense!

I wouldn't recommend lowering the Car!

There is NO way I could go any lower. I rub as it is with my 20's on the tops of the plastic fender lining... Most people think it's lowered with the 20's on it. Even the SA an BMW asked me is I had Eibach's...

It's hard to see, but the tread of the front tires are already tucked past the lip of the fenders

Well another one with the wrong size tires. Why do you guys want to lose torque? and change the handling of your car. Do you have any clue how that is affecting your spring rates, suspension and a myriad of components in your chasis? If you are going to do that then do it right and get a custum tune suspension with someone reputable.

You cant just change a characteristic of a car by an inch. That is a big difference when it comes to rolling diameter.

to each their own i guess.

1. I am not racing my car. I have a 400 whp saleen and a street bike for that.

2. The handling is far above and beyond what I need for the car and It probably handles better than if I went with a 30/25 series combo.

3. The car rides pretty close to stock and I am not about to go bending up my $2500 wheels(that they dont make anymore)

4. The car rides WAY better with the larger tires/wheels and looks better IMO. I had 19's with a 245/35 and 275/30 combo and they rode like crap..
The tires aren't That much bigger anyway.

... but you're right.. to Each their own..

yeah, all i asked for was some input about dropping our cars and this guy comes on flaming others about the wrong size tires. should of saved it for the appropriate thread, or create one himself imo. if i'm not mistaken, he did this on another thread as well.

thanx for sharing chrisxiv!!
