I have 245/40 R18 Nokian studded tires for winter. They are already installed (yes...too early...I regret it )
Terrible and soft tyres when roads are still dry...and may be also after that too.
I live in area where the roads are mainly salted and wet, so it is total destruction for the wheels and the car,
but anyway I would vote for 19" especially because they are not using salt in north
19" tyres are unfortunately much more expensive than 17" tyres and usually they are not studded, but
friction tyres are working quite ok with snow and slush.

Your winter wheels are very beautiful and I would keep them. If I had them I would use them. I hate my 5 spoke pile of shit 225/50/17" stock wheels.
P.S. - Anyone know where I can buy 12MM spacers for my rear winter wheels?

Thanks for comments everyone!
What Nokians do you have? I'm running Hakkapeliitta 5's now and their body is very soft. But they offer a very good grip!
I don't know where you can get them in the States, but I'm running on 12mm "Eibach Pro-Spacers".

Antti, if you want my opinion, your winter 17s look excellent for a winter setup, but if you are really set on getting a bigger set, I think 18s is the highest you can go in those winters. I'd do what Scott did and up the profile one size, get 245/45/18 as opposed to the OEM 245/40/18. But again, your car is looking excellent. My strongest suggestion on how to spend the cash: start saving for a second car and get either a 2 seater for the curves, a Jeep for off-roading, a boat - well, whatever you want. Your car is perfect the way it is, IMHO
