My Ride: 2010 E63 AMG -- Palladium Silver/Black. Love this car but looking to switch things up to keep things fresh. 2nd AMG in a row, but toying with coming back into the BMW fold!

Trust me, I could care less about the "heated" part of the heated wheel. I go from heated garage to heated garage every day. My interest is solely in a thicker wheel.

IMO, there is nothing worse than buying a $68K car with a sport package to find out upon delivery that the wheel is thinner than a Ford Taurus, which sadly may not even be true.

Remember, my solution is $800 cheaper than getting the ACS version.

Buy the wheel and mount it. You dont have to hook it up if you dont need the heat.

I did that exact mod. Bought the heated wheel for about $400. Had it installed - 1 1/2 hours labor. No problems, great new wheel.

I did not get the heat connected, as that's irrelevant to me, and it might seem a little wierd to have a heated wheel and no heated seats when you go to sell the car. Maybe not.

I love the difference. The benefit of this over the sport wheel is that the electronics and airbag move don't need to be replaced, so the cost is much lower.

How does the thickness of the SMG wheel compare with the regular heated steering wheel?

I have the sport steering wheel in heated version.

It seems that the heated version of sport steering wheel is marginally thicker than the non-heated version. Anyone ?

I have ordered the heated wheel. Cost to my autobody shop is $375 from the dealer. I could also use the BCCA parts discount to buy it directly from the dealer for $399. At this price plus some minor install time, it is a pretty good deal for anyone without the thicker heated wheel already and a heck of lot better than paying $1300 for an AC Schnitzer version.

Best of luck!!!
