I think I'm going to give up on the chrome wheels for now until next year its ridculous to find good looking rims that I like for an xi but I need some winter rims to replace my stock ones ... I seen these on ebay 19" m5 replicas wanted to know if there any good want to paint them black when I get them ... is it a good buy? which tires would be best? thanks.

Believe me I was in the same boat as you are right now when I was shopping for wheels for my '06 xi. I found these on eBay as well and I started to ask people about them. Not to disappoint you, but here's what Calton had to say about these rims when I asked him (hoping I'm not violating C's copyright ) :
Do NOT buy these wheels. A few reasons...
1) Notice the tiny lip around the circumference of the wheel? This is done because it's a cheap mold. The real M5 wheels do not have this lip. The edge is smooth, as each spoke extends to the edge. This lip looks very, very cheap and clearly shows that these wheels are replicas, not M5 wheels.
2) These wheels do not hold the same concave deepness as the real M5 wheels. They look "flatter".
3) Their finish is garbage and not close to the silver of the real M5 wheels. Once again, they look cheap.
I was very tempted to buy these wheels a few years ago for my XI, but after seeing them in person and how crappy they are, I'm so glad I didn't. Keep looking. Don't bother with these. You'll thank me later...trust me.

These wheels are absolute dog shit. Do not buy them. Here are a few reasons why:
1. Notice the lip around the circumference? The real M5 wheels are smooth. This lip is probably due to a cheap mold. It looks terrible and will trap brake dust often.
2. The wheels are much "flatter" compared to OEM. They don't have a concave look, which is what you want.
3. The finish is not even close to OEM.
4. A few members a couple of years ago had vibration issues.
What you want to look at are 3 series wheels, since the 3 series has a similar offset to the E60 XI. That said, don't bother with the M5 reps. Move on.
I used to be the XI Guru on this site. Prior to my M, I had a 530xi that was heavily modded out. It was probably one of the most modded XI's at one point. Here's a few pix of my old car. I loved my wheels on this car.

If you don't like the wheels on my car, you could do the 710's instead. Just a thought...
PS - I ran staggered on my XI. 275's in the rear.
