My Ride: 2008 Silverstone II E60 M5 2012 E70 AW X5 50i Sport w/ LCI Aero Kit and Rocker Panels
I've done it 3 ways on 3 of my BMW's. On my Black 530, I did the whole light. On my M5 I have just the clear part. On my X5, I did just the clear part, which is in the center of the red section, not above.
Personally, I like doing the clear part over the red. I think just doing the red is too "gangsta". Not my cup of tea. I think doing the top part keeps it clean and classy still. I also like how the red offers some contrast on the car, regardless of the color.
But hey, wtf do I know. My 2 cents...

I think the whole light with the light smoke will be the most classy yet sporty look without being gangster. I'm thinking of getting this as well. I find the red is not a good contrast on the silver car since there is nothing else red on it, kind of sticks out like a sore thumb.
