I am jealous of everyone's aftermarket wheels. While the 172s are nice for stock, I want something with a lip. My dilemma is this...I am in month 3 of a 24 month lease. Thus, it is hard to justify dropping 4-5k for some 20" 3-piece forged wheels and rubber that will be useless in 21 months. That is, unless the wheels I purchase for the E60 would fit my next vehicle, say the F10. Any thoughts from you all who have been around during a chassis transition before? Any chance I could throw them on the next 5er?

Worst case scenario you can sell the wheels in the classified section here if they don't fit your next car.

+1. Best idea in your case is to buy a used set off the Classifieds and then re-sell them in 24 mths, that way you won't take a big hit.

Regarding the chassis redesign, the E39 wheels will fit the E60 if you have the proper hubcentric rings. I doubt they will go away from the 120 X 5 bolt pattern, but as for offsets and hub diameters, that is a total guess.
