Hmmmm I'm no turbo expert by any means, but through my little research of them back in the day, twins cause more of a lag b/c both snails having to spool up.

Although our research may be of different makes, I think in general, turbo's are turbos. I'd take the Supra community for example. Some supra guys have ripped out their twins b/c of the lag and gone with singles. But of course, with the lag, comes a surge of power in the top end.

True, but that was older technology. As our 535 brethren can attest, they have little or no lag BECAUSE of the twin turbos, not in spite of them. The reason the supra guys swap to a single setup is because they can get a much bigger turbo than was stock. When I raced my old Accord I used a Garret T34 single turbo with an intercooler setup, it was HUGE, and it gave a big boost to the little engine (360WHP - dynoed). For daily driving, where lag can really be a problem, the twins work better throughout the RPM range.

I would be really interested to hear what they say on this turbo setup. Looking at the numbers that they estimate, which is always to be taken with a grain of salt, there is potential for some pretty serious HP gains at running 5psi. Noting that there is an ~500F drop in temp between a traditional turbo setup as compared to the STS as they state, the need for an intercooler at that low of boost I feel would be very little if at all. Ha, but then again we could run a meth/water injection setup and turn the boost way up. What is the compression on the 4.4L in the 545? Im assuming its probably 10:1 or something along those lines. The lower the boost the better, and at 5psi I feel like there would be no worry for knock and a decrease in the life of the engine. So basically, I hope this setup works, b/c I want one NOW! haha

I definitely want it but I need someone to tune it. Or maybe even install it. I know how to tune. But do not know how to properly tune. Just dont like the fact my air filter is under my car. Still waiting for more info....

I agree with pjinca, go with the twin setup.
The amount of lag caused by a single turbo setup would be detremental to your engine due to the sensitivity of the v8.
With such a high compression ratio and massive amounts of torque stock, having a single turbo with even a small amount of boost would kill you top end.
In my experience a single turbo setup would give you more top end power than anything. little to no spool until say 3000+ rpm's where you're hitting optimal boost.
The twin setup, (if they have it setup this way) would have a 'smaller' turbo followed by a larger one and would have the smaller one spool first with a fairly low amount of boost in the tune, followed by a transition into the larger turbo with a slightly higher amount of boost, giving you a smoother hp/tq curve throughout the rpm range.

If the cost between the two isn't huge then go twins. With the proper setup I think you could see a vast improvement with little harm to the engine.

There had GOT to be a tuner in NYC, I had a friend that had a HUGE turbo in his M3 years back (700HP) and he got it tuned. If I could remember his phone # I'll call him and ask for you. Of course, he lived in NJ, so you might have to drive a little.

Go to the drag strip and see who is putting down good consistant runs and ask them who does their tunning.
