It's a Greek Patent but their main website is currently under construction. It used to have a detailed write up on the functionality of the SB. I found this other site with some info on it that might be useful but in a nut shell, you're pretty spot on with your assumption.

Thanks for that. It does indeed sound intriguing. One of those things I'd prefer to try before I buy even though there's no doubt it makes a difference. Based purely on my driving style though, I think I wouldn't see the benefits enough. Sure I like to make use of the power, but a lightning fast reaction to the throttle I think I'll live without. I'd rather put that amount of money towards an ECU remap (which I don't want to do while I still have some BMW warranty left). I can really see why y'all would like this thing, just not for me

I wonder if that site let's me embed an image from it. Here goes...

Ok guys I will get the sprintbooster sounds like an awesome and rather inexpensive upgrade.

Does anyone live in the OMAHA area and want to meet up sometime?

Does anyone know if they do a bimmerfest type get together in Chicago or KC?

I was a long time skeptic of the SB until I borrowed a friend's and tried it and loved it ever since. I had brought my car in for service on Mon and removed it (it takes about 5 minutes to remove/install) and the car felt a bit sluggish without it. Once I got my car back, I reinstalled it right away and just loved the peppiness of the throttle.

Anyway, I can definitely understand your reservations and most people who haven't tried it feels exactly the same way. You should definitely find someone locally who has one to try out before buying. I actually have a remap on my car as well as the SB and can confirm that the SB made a very noticeable difference on top of the remap.

That said, there are some members who have tried the product and decided it wasn't for them. It does make the accelerator more sensitive and twitchy if you're not careful and the common concern is with slow speed, tight space maneuverability.
