Spring Rates on Coilovers
Hi, I'm about to purchase some BC Racing coilovers for my 525i and I'd like to know what spring rates I should get? I heard that the stock 5k front and rear is too little and I should go for 6k Front and 8k rear spring rates? Please let me know what to go for

I have BC's with Swift springs, and I think they are the standard 6k/8k. I have my fronts at 20 clicks from full soft, and the rear midway at 15 clicks. After a few weeks of breakin, they ride like stock sport springs, but with much less movement over large bumps. If you are looking for a more aggressive setup, you probably could live with stiffer springs. Talk to some vendors and get their opinion. I have had some M3's in the past, and I wanted to tighten up my 545's handling, and my setup did the job. Another good suspension mod is poly bushings, especially on the tension arms. Much more solid steering with less free play, and less nose diving on braking. Kind of a bitch to press the bushings into the arm, but I did it at home with a Harbor Freight Press.

6k/8k is a little firmer than stock but still comfortable. im running 10k/8k and its stiff, but thats what i wanted since im slammed and dont feel like shattering my lip or tearing up my fenders lol.
after the initial shock of the stiffness i wouldnt go any lower, at least not on this chassis.
but i also live in florida where most roads are nice.

I ordered my BCs about a week ago and ordered 8/6 since BC recommendation 8/5. I wanted to go low also but not really slammed so I’m hoping 8/6 will be good enough.
