Sorry if this topic has been covered but I couldn't find discussions about spacer use - good of bad - by searching. I've found some aftermarket wheels for my '05 545 but the dealer says they would require spacers. I know that Discount Tire will not touch/mount wheels with spacers, so I'm wondering why they feel spacers are a liability? Is there anything wrong with spacers and longer bolts? If not, how do you know how big a spacer you would need? Thanks in advance...

There are OEM given specs for E60 tires and wheels 16 -19"!

Any other measures are not perfect for your car!

Buy only high quality rims and tires.

Spacers and/or any other non BMW adjustments will not make you satisfied,
in the long run!

Spacers are certainly not something to be afraid of so long as you stick with a reputable brand like H&R. The H&R TRACK+ spacers we carry are forged magnesium alloy that are built to withstand repeated street and track use so you can rest assured that they will not crack under pressure. We also offer them with the longer bolts so they are a direct install on your car as well.

I just purchased some 19" Breyton Race GTS tires from tirerack and they called to confirm the order and let me know that 18mm (i think) spacers and extra long lugs are included. I've never used spacers before. Will these tires be easy to install myself? How do I install the spacers?

I agree with Nick, stick with brand name, and make sure you use right size/lengh lugs, and the spacers are hubcentric you should be fine. I had 25mm h&r spacers on the rear of my x5... didnt notice any vibrations etc at all...
