My Ride: 2007 E60 550i Black/Sand. Dinan free flow intake, throttle body, carbon fiber strut brace, and exhaust. Carbon fiber engine cover. Blend mount for a Belltronics RD w/mirror tap. Smoke LED taillights. Projector fog-lites w/HID kit.
Default So.... Who's the bonehead??

I recently ordered a carbon fiber engine cover for my 2007 550i. When I went to install it the holes that were pre-drilled didn't line up with the corresponding bolts on the top of the engine. I figured I got the cover for a 545, but the vendor insists that they fit both cars. Now i have to take pictures of the "fitment issue" to prove the cover I got doesn't fit so that I can exchange it for the one that does. Am I somehow being a bonehead with this? I mean, it either fits or it doesn't, right? Side by side the pre-drilled holes are even in different locations on the CF cover and the stock cover. So tell me please... Who's the bonehead?

Clearly not! I would expect that it fits. I have no idea if 545 and 550 have different covers though. What sux is in the end it often cost you more just for time and shipping.

The 45 definitely has a different cover than the 50. I have never seen a cf cover for a 50.

Seibon makes a CF cover, the question is... Do they make a CF cover for a 550. When the cover arrived the first thing I noticed was that it looked very similar to the shape and size of the engine cover for an E38 4.4L... say in a 740 for instance. Now i dont know for certain if the engine covers of E38's and E60's with 4.4L V8's are interchangeable, but I do know for certain, thanks to about 2hrs worth of wasted time this morning, that this particular engine cover absolutely will not fit on a 2007 550i. I ordered this part specifically for my car, even checked the packing invoice and my online order invoice and they both are for a 550i. Now regardless of the smart ass email I got back from the vendor which assumed that I must be an idiot, I'll give them one more chance at customer service. If I'm not satisfied I'll be sure to let everyone know who I got this particular piece from and how they flunked their second chance at making this right. I have absolutely no problem singing the accolades of those vendors that excell, and I absolutely have no issues with slamming the ones that treat customers like nothing more than a cash cow. Good luck on attempt two
