With my 20" wheels about to arrive, I'm debating which size tires to run.
Here are the two choices:
1) 255/35/20 & 285/30/20
2) 255/30/20 & 285/25/20
It's all about the profile size. I know the lower profile looks better, but having more rubber on my sidewalls might keep these wheels out of harms way for the next couple of years.
What do you guys think?

EDIT:
Plus, isn't set-up #1 the right sidewall ratio for the M5?
Btw, can you go 295 on the rear?

+1 on #1 set-up. I'd run those if I wouldn't rub, but I'm just a lowly E60, not an M5 ![Tongue](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/tongue.gif)

Member EuroCarFan and Nigxdoof have the 35/30 profile set-up on their RAD's. However, poleposition and a bunch of others have 30/25 on their 20's.

You don't win anything with wider front tires - 255/30/20
Rears can be a bit wider, but too wide is not good for anything - 295/25/20
Those tires would be within the OEM specs, but don't drive into potholes.
The wheels should be suitable for the tires, F 9.0 and R 10
and the ET's right, F about 12 and R about 28 (look out for rubbing).
The tires should also have "rim defence".

Calton,
You can't run option #2. If you do, you'll be out of BMW specifications. E60 M5s are designed to have a larger rolling diameter than regular e60s, so 255/35/20 and 285/30/20 for you.

I can do 295 in the rear, but I would then have to do a 25 profile tire in the rear and 30 in the front.
