Default Simple question for coding newbee

Hello,

forum members. I will use this thread to introduce myself before asking my question. My name is George and from August 2019 i am an owner of a bmw e60 530d lci 2007 (UK import RHD) and i just love it. The car offers everything i need. I had limited amount of money for a new vehicle and thats why i chose to buy an RHD e60 (they are cheaper in LHD countries) instead of buying something not so relyable. I do not regret my decision. So now me and my wife have a baby and she started her drivers license course, so she can take the baby for a walk somewhere or take it to the pediatrition for her regular checks while i am at work. I am afraid to let her drive a RHD because she is unexperienced. I never had problems with the steering being on the other side but now it makes me think twice. I know there is the option to sell and buy a LHD car, but i put a lot of effort to make it in mint condition. I spoke with a friend of mine who has experience with changing the drive from right to left and he said that he can do it but except the coding to make the modules work the other way arround when the wheel goes on the left side. I have experience with all kinds of software so i think i can handle the software part myself. I read a lot of material on coding the modules and i think i got most of the picture, but to be sure i decided to ask you if i understood things right. So first i have read that in order to make everything work i need to make a new VO with the right chassis type. For example at the moment it should be *NX72. So should i delete the *NX72 and make a new VO with *NX71 and code the modules again? How can i see which modules i need to code? The only module i can think of is the one for the windows, because it hasn't beeb producted with a lot of accessoaries. Can i use the attached pdf as a reference?

Thank you.

Sounds like a cool project to me. During all the coding sessions I've done, I saw the RHD and LHD option within the CAS module in NCSEXPERT and probably also in the KOMBI module. I don't think many things have to be changed other that the VO and those two modules. Good luck!

Thank you. So if i understood you right i change the VO by deleting the *NX72 and adding *NX71 and then i FA_WRITE CAS module and then KOMBI module?

Change *NX72 FOR *NX71 and then FA WRITE for the CAS module. Then click on Read ECU and open NCSDUMMY. Once in there select your Module eg. CAS2.C05 in my case. Then browse for your FSW_PSW.TRC file in Disc C/NCSEXPERT/WORK and select it. Once selected, a list of coding options will pop up in NCSDUMMY. look for Steering Type and select Left Hand Drive. Then click on Export FSW/PSW over by the bottom left of your screen and select .MAN file then save the file.
Now go back to NCSEXPERT select change job and click on SG_CODIEREN then click EXECUTIVE JOB

Yeah 10% is pretty good. My first time coding I didn't even get the right cable to begin with so I guess you already started better than me lol. ALSO just to be safe, change the FA for the LMA as well

By change the FA for LMA as well you mean the procedure you explained in the previous quote but instead of CAS i should use LMA?
Thanks.

By the way i read a lot about the paddle shift wheel install. I see that the difference between m5 wheel and lci wheel is that on lci both buttons gear down on press and gear up on pull, not like the m5 which one paddle gears up and the other one gears down. Has anyone thought about swapping the wires on the connector of the lci wheel so that for example the left paddle gears down on both push and pull and the right one gears up on push and pull? To make it work 2 of the cables need to be swapped and it will almost have the same functionality as the m5 one.
