Hi
I have been thinking about adding a multimedia interface for some time, but haven't found any reason other than the fact that it can be done
I think I saw that BMW is offering some kind of 3D view on the new 5-series with cameras in the side mirros looking down - basically providing a view "around" the car. Maybe I am dreaming - but I am sure I saw it some place?
Now here is the idea: Wouldn't is be possible to add a camera in the passenger side mirror, routing the cable back to the idrive - and interfacing it through some multimedia interface? I have been looking at the modmynav.com kit - I like the picture-in-picture function: with that I can still have my parking sensor view in the main window, and then have the side view in the right side. Especially usefull when parking along the curb...
I am thinking that you can find cameras which are wide enough to see both wheels - but that obviously has to be tested.
Any thought or inputs? Has this already been done before?

I definitely remember reading the same thing about the 360 sky view type thing. I would think it would work if you got the multimedia interface to play nicely. Sorry I can't be of more help, but I'll be anxiously following this thread.
