I'm posting this up for a member , 525i//m (ALEX) .. Let me know what you guys think ... oem ??? or not oem ??? i say its not !! cuz if it is " oem " shouldnt it fit on with no prbm ??

(Alex) < Here is my dilemma let me know what you think...had a quick question about the M5 side skirts, I recently bought a set from ebay and had them painted but found out that they do not fit correctly. They are about ? inch short in the front, they do not line up with the inside of the wheel well/fender. All the torx screws on the bottom of the skirts fit tightly and I was only able to pop in about 5 pins starting from the rear of the skirt and the next 4 or 5 in the front would not line up! I broke a few of them trying to force them in. The skirts look like e60 M5 skirts and they half way fit?but they come up short?don?t understand. They were posted on ebay as BMW OEM E60 M5 Rocker Panels. The only thing I can think of is that the M5 fender is different and if I had the M5 fender the fitment might be better but I am not sure about that and if that was the case I would assume that I would be able to pop in all the pins on the skirt to the body of the car. I am positive that the fender is different because I have an OEM M5 front bumper and the fitment is not line up perfectly. All the information on the forum seems to indicate that the M-tek and M5 side skirts are identical and no one else has had these fitment issues?don?t understand why it doesn?t work. The side skirts are OEM, they are engraved M5 + MP with a bmw logo but I am not sure what MP means but any information that you have on this matter would be much appreciated. Also the part# on the skirts is 51777896837.

Thanks!
Alex

From what I understand, the side-skirts are the same on M5/M-tech.
I could be wrong, and I'll let others chime in.

Are they reps? I know the Umnitza-like reps fit with no problem.

Hello all,
When my body shop called me and told me that the skirts do not fit correctly the first thing I did is call the dealer and they told me that that part number does not exist and that the m-tek and m5 part numbers are the same and different from what I have. I triple checked that number..that is exactly what is on the inside of the skirt...looks like a bmw part# but it is unrecongonized by BMW. It also has a bmw logo along with an M5 + MP on the inside of the skirt... At this point I am just going to have to deal with it because I have some money invested in them...
