Seriously, $2400 for a cat back exhaust?
Simply put, RPI makes performance proven products with excellent quality and worksmanship and they provide top notch customer service before during and after sales. Add to that, at least from my experience with the M5 stuff, their prices are the lowest around.
Grand Poobah has spoken. Buy the exhaust and be happy. Life's too short.

I you have not driven, ridden in or driven behind a M5 with the full RPI race exhaust you should. It is increible and worth every penny.
Now this thread may be about a 535 exhaust but all the RPI exhausts for E60s are tops. The RPI exhaust for the 550 is unbelievable --/more power and an insane sound. As for the 535 one, check the feedback from the 535 owners who have it.

There have been a few comments like this, and just to clear it up, it's not that the pricing is not to my liking. My question revolves around whether this cat back exhaust is truly worth $2400. I don't mind paying a premium for an excellent, well-crafted part that performs above the competition.
Thanks for the candid responses.

The problem is that you didn't come at this thread with a real question. You came out it clearly stating that there was no way the exhaust cost that much to make, that for its price it should be made of something stronger or lighter and that RPI just charges whatever people are willing to pay. You questioned not only their manufacturing process but also the ethics of their economics and therefore their business and those who work for them.
Maybe you didnt mean to come at it that way but you did so Eloy obviously took it as an attack on the hard labor of his product, which it seemed that way to me and a bunch of other members.
Everything that RPI makes so far has been a well engineered, crafted system that outperforms all the competition so far. They have set a new standard, at a relatively low price.
If you had said "Wow this seems expensive, why does this exhaust cost this price?" then Eloy would have given you tons of examples and information to show you how its made, how it performs and how other systems that are priced the same and sometimes even more dont even compare to it.
We've all given you tons of reasons why it costs as much as it does, and backed it up with the costs of the materials and basic manufacturing principles given the niche market and current economy.
Either buy the exhaust or stop bitching about how it costs so much while youre not buying it anyway

Ohhhh I see what you are doing here now.
The exhaust is worth exactly what you as an individual are willing to pay. Was my RPI exhaust worth $800? Yes. Would it be worth $1000? Yes. Would it be worth $2000? Yes.
Why? Because I believe that the engineering, design, production, finish, construction and fitment all make it worth it.
Make up your own mind otherwise get something else and stop wasting our time. Ask a member with a 535 that has the full system.
