Both work. As long as the key is in position 2 and the engine is off your good.
If you have push to start then you need to press the button until all of the electronics are on and the engine is not running.

Hi, "that guy" here:

The instructions are basically the same, 30-35 seconds, whatever. Other than that, it depends if you have a regular key or not. Choose accordingly.
