For the past few days I have been reading up on exhausts and I am confused because of all the options available. I am not crazy about spending tons of money on a exhaust system so I am sticking with a magnaflow exhaust. I want a nice sound note but nothing that's obnoxiously loud or ricey. Other members of my family drive the car and sometimes the car is taken to executive dinners and meetings so I don't want something that would cause the wrong type of impression.
For the magnaflow I just go to an exhaust shop and have them chop off my current exhaust and weld on the new magnaflow exhaust? Am I correct in thinking this? What kind of sound improvement should I get with just replacing the OEM muffler with a magnaflow exhaust? What happens if you delete resonators and silencers?

What are tips and if you buy lets say a direct fit magnaflow exhaust do you need tips for that or no? Can this be done at any exhaust shop like BJ's or Meniekee? How much should one pay to have the OEM muffler replaced with a magnaflow?

Is a muffler delete worth it? I have heard it on the E90's and its just way too loud but willing to hear what you all have to say.

Happy Holidays!

Do you care about performance only or purely exhaust note?

What kind of sound improvement should I get with just replacing the OEM muffler with a magnaflow exhaust? It'll be louder for sure but no guarantee that it'll not sound ricey. You'd have to test to see or find another 5er.

What happens if you delete resonators and silencers? Same as above, the exhaust note will be different and louder.

What are tips and if you buy lets say a direct fit magnaflow exhaust do you need tips for that or no? Some exhausts come with exhaust tips, you know those 2 tube things you see. The muffler is that canister looking object. Some manufacturers include tips (like RPi) and others do not.

Can this be done at any exhaust shop like BJ's or Meniekee? Yes

Thanks so much for the information!

The one I am looking at. That has the tips on it so its plug and play? And can adding an exhaust affect the warranty on the car?

Then I'd start scouring the forums and YouTube for sound clips. Some manufacturers have them posted on their site as well.

Mufflers and exhausts should not void warranty.

Did you go to http://www.magnaflow.com/ and use their application chart? Gotta make sure what you're looking at fits.

a stingy stealer will want to void your warranty if it even has a 1% chance of causing an issue in the future
