There was i , minding my own business at the petrol station, filling up the long term loaner
530d remapped to around 250bhp/580nm... and i see a Mercedes-Benz CSL parked in front of the
petrol station ... interesting i say, so i get a closer to it...

It has a BRABUS Badge on the back it , and four exhausts... scary stuff i think. But then it has no brabus
badges anywhere else, the car has 17inch alloys with fat tyres (turns out its his winter setup). Since its quite popular to put that kind of badges on CLS350 and CLS500s in bulgaria, i think to myself easy meat

Guy just happens to come out (proly twice as old as me), so i say if he fancies a race... sure he says... so i drive off and wait for him at the intersection of Bulgaria Boulevard...

He comes after me and then i notice two things:

1) The car sounds like a hurricane
2) I see the blue instrument dials

At that point i knew i was in deep trouble (as this later turns out to be a 555bhp/870nm Brabus tuned CLS55 AMG)...

So we get ready to race... wait for the traffic lights

I keep the auto in M1, keep the revs at 2000rpm and i let it go... nice start seem to be gaining the lead (up till about 40km/h)... all i see is tyre smoke from the merc...

And then he passes me and disappears into the distance, he was probably doing 180km/h by the time i had reached 100km/h.

:'(

Needless to say he was a sport and we had a chat about his car... brabus tuned engine and debadged bar than one badge on the back...

Moral of the story, is not to full with those cars

The CLS and E with the 55K motor are monsters from a dig...and that's even with a stock motor.

If the tables were turned, that is, you were the driver of the CLS, you get hit up for a run, you completely toast the other guy...would you be as humble and/or open to talk about the cars afterwards?

At any rate, I'm glad you shared the story and good to hear that you both were good sports about it all.

By the way, did he also have the Brabus Rocket body kit? That thing is MEAN looking and enough to keep me away PERIOD!
