Does anyone know what the difference is in the gear lever cover trim pieces? RealOEM lists three different part numbers,

51166985887
Cover, gear selecting lever SCHWARZ MATT

51166960879
Cover, gear selecting lever SCHWARZ
Leather-covered

51169123873
Cover, gear selecting lever SCHWARZ
Interior trim finishers black high-gloss

Part number 51166960879 is about double in price compared to 51169123873. My car has the dark poplar wood trim so I'm not sure which one I need to purchase. The DIY lists part number 51166960879 as the correct trim piece, but I wasn't sure if it was because it matched their vehicle better.

Thanks!

Hi, I have a 2008 E60 523 LCI.

I was told that I cannot fit paddleshift steering wheel into my car, which has the normal gearshift lever. Is this true?

Can the paddleshift steering wheel work if I change my normal shifter (AT) to this SAT shifter?

I've checked on realoem, and found that the base unit of the SAT and normal AT is different. Do I have to buy the base unit of the SAT as well? The based unit of normal AT is S205A whereas the based unit of SAT is S2TBA. Can the SAT shifter be mounted onto the AT base?

SAT stick, not SAT retrofit..

From the title seemed you have replace gearbox in 30 minutes

Thanks to this fantastic thread, I have just done this retrofit today!

Wow, it's just great, no regrets at all! Only pity is that I still have not found a solution to make my paddleshifts work yet. Still searching.....

gmakishima, in reply to your question, I was stucked with this part number as well. Finally decided to take the 2nd number (
51166960879 for LHD, 51166960880 for RHD). This part number is exactly what you see in the picture in the first post of this thread. If you have a black high gloss interior trims for the rest of your car, you might want to take the 3rd number. I have no idea what the 1st number is. The 2nd number is definitely correct.

I've paid S$1,100 for the 4 parts, which is about USD700, and about USD50 to a local workshop to fit them in (I'm definitely not a DIY guy) IMHO, it's a value for money mod for all LCI-ers!

I read in another thread pre LCI cars cannot have this mod, however it gets me thinking, if the transmission box is the same surely its just a case of ECU/Stick/Wiring modifications ?? Im yearning for SAT
