Worth it for the looks alone.

Review will follow - I like the way the steering is stiffened in sport mode.

What is SAT exactly? I thought this was a navigation retro fit before opening the thread. What was changed?

Um... did you say steering stiff in DS? So you're saying my Bimmer has stiffer steering in DS compared to D? I did not know this...

SAT = Sports auto transmission. Applies only to LCI cars.

No, not when in DS, but with the sport button pressed.

so your saying you added this to your car that previously did not have this option? How and where did you wire the sports button to? Are you going to post this in the DIY section??

Someone has already done it which is where I got the confidence from to attempt this.

My car was not available with this as an option from the factory. Here in the UK it is only the 530d and 530i and above which can be sepcified with SAT. So if you have a 520d, 525d or 525i the only route is to retro-fit.

After driving with it for 150 miles I can't understand why BMW didn't make this the standard fitment and forget the standard auto shifter. Remember that the gearbox itself is no different - it is just what it is told to do that is.

Essentially, all you need is 4 components. The SAT gear lever, the SAT ECU, the sport button and a console trim cover.

The SAT ECU which sits under the gear lever is the key here. The sports button plugs into it.

If your car is prior to around March 2007 (LCI) you are unfortunatley out of luck. If you are an LCI owner then this is a worth while upgrade.
