I'm in. I added an RPI to my 545 about 6 months ago. It sounds fantastic at WOT, but I'm completely sick of the drone at 1500-2000 RPM, and my wife all but refuses to ride in the car any more.

I was beginning to consider putting my stock exhaust back on, and then I read about the RPI silencer cones. I ordered two last night - I'll try one, then the other as well if I need it.

I don't care about losing the RPI power gain - the car is faster than it needs to be either way. What I want is the RPI exhaust tone, about 30% quieter.

I will report back.

I have the exhaust silencer on my RPI, and the sound is great, and I have NO drone whatsoever (and with only one silencer)! I'm positive that the silencer will SOLVE your droning issue and get your wife back into your car (if you truly want her there! ) DO IT!!

The point I was trying to make is that the silencers DO work well!

Silencers will kill your horsepower like crazy, what you need is a resonator

My information about the power loss from using the silencer comes from Eloy himself, so I for one believe!

Smaller exit hole than tubing restricts air flow, I don't think you need data to figure that out it is common sense.

rpi silencer dyno on an e60 m5:

https://5series.net/forums/topic/876...1#entry1034264

I've read a few postings by rpipower/eloy stating the HP loss is minimal as shown on this dyno above. I highly doubt you will "feel" the slight loss in performance as no one's butt dyno is that sensitive IMO. The fact that the silencers can be installed and removed fairly easily makes this an option for those that want their exhaust a little quieter when they are DD'ing or hauling the family/friends/clients/etc..but on the weekends and/or for spirited driving you'd like a little more audible feedback

Quick Reply: RPI Exhaust Silencer!
