My Ride: SOLD...Jet Black 2008 550i M Sport with SAT, black interior. RPI exhaust and air scoop, 35% huper optik tint all around, CF roundels, flat black kidneys, Springfield Armory XD-40 jet black in glove box, charcoal filter removed.
Default

Here goes. My son and my step dad are in the pic's, I was taking them. The only hard part, if you can call it that, was moving the rear hanger from the right to the left as you can see in the one picture below. It simply unscrewed from the one bolt and remounted onto the other.

Getting started - jacked both sides up.

The stock exhaust tips.

Making the cut - stock on its way out.

Lining up the RPI.

Look close and you can see where, on the right, I removed the rear exhaust hanger. Ended up putting it on the left, the bolt with nothing attached and no "mark" from it ever being attached.

Close up of the cut.

Putting on the band to attach the new exhaust - comes with the new exhaust from RPI. Wraps around and then you tighten two bolts - easy.

New rear hanger attached. You can see the mark on the bolt on the right where it was with the stock exhaust.

Honestly, it really was. I'm not that mechanically inclined, so I got my step dad to help with the cut, but I could have done it myself. Really, from start to finish, 20 minutes max. Well, he also had two of the floor hydraulic jacks which i do not, and that is a must have. Other than that, nothing to it.

It probably took me longer than that to change my front grilles! Looks really nice. Congrats.

You will be amazed with the sound and the extra power, I have been really happy. Especially for a V8 the sound is great, over the weekend at the BMW CCA auto cross everyone looked at it several minutes and asked about it... Some even said it sounded better than M5...

Awesome DIY!

Just wondering, did anything have to be welded? Your DYI seems to point to no, just want to clarify.
