RPI air scoops for 545

NeRwEEzy... your car isn't the only non-M with the scoop. Since RPI needed a manual tranny for the dyno, I had to jump right on it!
Unfortunately, like Weezy's car, the end result wasn't great. Since there weren't much gains to be had, Eloy said they probably won't be producing them. At first my butt-dyno noticed a slight difference--but I'm not sure how much of it is mental.

One of the problems we had was time. It really takes a good amount of time to r&d and make something that can show a signficant amount of hp increase.

Both your car and Nerweezy's car showed a slight gain but it was not enough for me to spend hours making these things. One of the issues with the dynoing of the scoops on some of your cars are that your cars are friggin LOW. lol. With the car tilted downwards and our dyno fan pointed downwards also, the scoops dont capture much air. There is no doubt that you are getting much more air on the highway though.

I understand your point "RPIpower." I didn't have in mind the thought of absolutely having an aftermarket "cold air intake" nor that of leaving the filter element unsealed. The latter would be ineffective, thus inefficient. The proper way to design the scoop(s) for any E60 would be to mate them up with either the stock air filter system or aftermarket air filter system in such a way as to have a true RAM AIR effect. After all, that is what you want to make more power. You could even go as far as changing the shape of the factory airbox to provide less turbulence and to increase velocity further. I will send an email to your company to try to collaborate with an individual(s) on this. What can we come up with?

Eloy wanted at least 20 people for him to design one for the 545.
His other option was a production run of the M5s left scoop alone.

Please add me to the list. I have one question though, I have an AFE Intake, is that a problem? I thought Eloy commented earlier in this thread it would not work with aftermarket intake.

Do we have at least 20 545i's on the forum?
