I would use brown as earth, as this is the color for earth thru the entire car. I would also use the red for power for the same reason.

Ok, I literally want to kill myself now. ARRGH!

I thought I would be clever and, as I was at the KGM, I would wire the drivers side in a similar fashion to the passenger side (being that I had re-wired that mirror the same as the passenger side and plugged in to the existing loom).

So, I went, drivers side:

Pin 1 - took out Pin 40 at the KGM and added to Pin 7 of fuse 32 alongside Pin 1 (Pin 46 KGM) of the passenger mirror. Effectively, two wires going to Pin 7
As Pin 7 of Fuse 32 goes to / comes from Pin 1 of the window switch module, I assumed this is OK. Even more so in that I am not changing the window switch for one with mirror button as I just want to fold / unfold with key fob.

The only other odd thing here is that Pin 1 (Pin 40 at the KGM) was not white/blue but brown / yellow IIRC and I double and tripe checked I was in the right module.

Pin 2 from drivers side - took out Pin 21 and tapped it in to the existing wire at Pin 23 of the KGM. (apparently, LIN bus)

Pin 3 from the drivers side - took out Pin 41 at the KGM and moved to Pin 21

I figured this would work, but it doesn't. No movements, no folding, nothing.

Have you coded the KGM yet?

Edit: acoording to the error message it seems so.

Double check that you are connected to the right wires in the mirror, and if everything seems ok, try to connect earth to the chassis somewhere (or to an earth "point").

I'm just sceptical about my wiring. Which is odd as what I have done seems to be plausible. If not, I will just have to code the drivers side as per the PDF (to the window switch rather than at the KGM).

Perhaps too I should grab an actual window switch with mirror function.

You could try to code light package ($563). Cars with light package uses 3 wires to the mirrors aswell, and you could have this option without the auto dip/folding function.

I have only coded light package on my car, as I haven't changed the switch and all that.

Ok, will try. Did you add $430 then? I have, but will do $563 too.

No, just $563, as I thought that you would need the correct rear view mirror (with auto dip) to get the folding to work properly aswell. I know that's not correct (learned it later), but I haven't done anything about it yet.

OK, good news. I've wired up again and got the mirrors working. Full mirror movement and folding and all LIN bus errors cleared and haven't come back....but....I can only get them to fold using DIS. Ive checked the coding and it all seems kosher so I'm at a loss now. Will have to dig around. I've added $430 to the VO so its not that. Just one missing piece of the jigsaw somewhere.

Not added $563 yet, but might just in case

FIXED!

I re-pinned the new mirrors back to the way they were. If you think about it, I was trying to supply power to the LIN line and LIN line to the power. It would never have worked.

Coding was odd. Reading the KGM ECU through NCSExpert should the relevant values as Activ but when I read the NETTODAT file through NCSDummy the comfort close was nicht activ. I set it (and mirror tilt on reverse) to aktiv and all is now working properly. I even tweaked the value so that the mirrors and any open windows close instantly on lock (ie, not holding the button down).

Good to see that you worked it all out.
