This may very well be the case - last year I wanted to have the aux input installed. The dealer said "So you can use an ipod?" and of course I said sure. Then the dealer told me that ipod wasn't available yet for the 5er (he was right) and I couldn't convince him that the Aux was something different. I had to start over at a different dealer (I'm fortunate to have 2 within reasonable distance) and then everything went fine...

Cheers, Jon.

Hi, How about AUX just to have your add on DVD player sound coming out of the stereo system? Will that work also?

Yep the auxilliary input is just a 3.5mm stereo jack (headphone plug) for you to plug in ANY portable equipment.

It doesn't affect the cd changer, but you do need a software update (included in the retro fit) which will give you an extra 'aux in' menu on i-drive.

New e60's have this as standard as do e90s.

Don't use the word "iPod". Tell them you are wheezer from an age gone by and you want to play your cassette tapes via an Auxillary Input.

I use the 3.5 jack to link my Nano. Works great Cobradevs right however, use the "Ipod" word in a dealership and its the equivalent of a frontal labotomy on the guy
