Unhappy

Hi

Can anybody help me? I have a E60 with no navigation. It currently have a 6.5 monitor in the centre of the dash.

I have won a 8.8 screen for ebay. and tried to install it onto my car. Did not have any problems with the connections but when I turned the car on.

The screen did not fill up the 8.8 screen and it was out of alignment. Is it actually possbile to do this properly?

Can the car be re-coded to adapt the 8.8 screen without changing the stereo and other components?

I doubt there's anything you can do to adapt a non-nav car to a 8.8 inch screen. I'm not sure exactly what you mean when you say "out of alignment" but I imagine that the best-case scenario would be that the iDrive screens would fill up the first 2/3rds of the 8.8 inch screen (starting from the left side.) Is that what you mean by out of alignment?

I don't think you can use the full screen my friend. My car is Nav equipped and I have never seen anything displayed in the right screen other than maps, arrow displays, location coordinates....nav related infos, etc. Exception: There are some pages that are in full diplay like the lawyer page, start-up page and others I don' remember right now.

I don't think by installing the lates for-nav CIP would do the trick, since you don't have the nav module. It's best to ask your sevice advisor about it.

Are you referring to the 'disclaimer' at the very beginning, when the iDrive boots up?

Only the main menu (North South East West) is full screen. All others, including the lawyer disclaimer screen and the PDC screen use the leftmost two-thirds of the screen.

all i want it to show the startup screen and the main features display in full. Also the UK cars don't have a disclaimer screen.

The main screen as the selection page of the I-drive. As the moment the screen only displays the first three quarter of the screen and plus the 8.8 monitor is a widescreen the bottom is cut off slightly.

Anyone think this can be done by programming the I-drive to 8.8 mode or is this to do with the stereo module?

I WOULD INQUIRE with SA at a dealer, sounds to me that SW could fix this, so as of now the 8.8 is no different then the small standard screen?
so far no gain from the screen swap?
