After changing to SAT shifter, even the 'sport' button that came with it works!
If that's true and the sport button remaps the transmission's shift points and shift speed, I think that will be HUGE news for many people...

Yes, it IS possible. I have done it to my car. It was an easy swap, took less than 30 minutes.
I don't know what is the electronic module that you are talking about, but from what I saw, they looked the same at the bottom.

Any pics?

how much did it cost? did you need to reprogram the car?

this is a picture of the module that sits right underneath the selecter lever of pre-lci cars. unfortunately i could not get a pic of of lci models. anyway, my point is that: in lci models, this module is directly attached to the selector lever handle on non-sat models and on sat models, the selector lever handle is connected to this module with a flexi cable. so if you wanted to change, one would have to change the lever handle + this module that sits underneath it.

what car do you have? i assume lci. it would be something amazing if this works - you would be setting the trend...

No need to reprogram the car. It works right away.
I am in Korea, so the price here must be much higher than that in the U.S..

As I remember, it was the whole thing including the bottom part in the pic, and the 'sport' button that comes with it.
I don't think it's anything amazing because it is an easy swap, and there are many LCI E60 people and new X5 people doing this mod in Korea.

man, this would be a sick mod, if it works as you say it does...

i wonder if you have all the features of SAT, such as faster shifting times, the blipping when switching up or down etc.? if that is so, it means that the module sitting underneath the shifter is all that what makes the difference between SAT and non-SAT...

some price indication would be helpful...

tnx so much....

Maybe the module reprograms the shift points when the sport button is press or maybe it's just that red thing that surrounds the lever that makes everything work?

Kidding aside, I think we're going to need a few more guinea pigs to do this mod to learn more about how the sport button, etc. affects things...
