I've been researching the 545i aftermarket quad exhaust options on the forums and there's alot of good info. I couldn't find a comparison of the RDSport and Remus though. I've heard that the Remus quad for the 530i will work on a 545i, so really my questions are for anyone who has heard the RDSport and Remus quad exhausts on the V8.

1. Which exhaust is louder?
2. More importantly, which exhaust has less drone?
3. Any idea on how either of these exhausts compare to a custom quad setup (eg. Borla or Magnaflow) in terms of loudness and drone?

Thanks for any help someone can provide.

Thanks Fed, have you ever heard the Remus?

Ask vegastrashed. He had the RD Sport set-up on his 545 before he went to his E63.

I would prefer to get the cheapest option which I understand is custom, but I'm concerned about these drone issues everyone talks about. If I could hear it in person I'd be more comfortable with the choices, but living in Toronto, I don't know anyone that's done it, so I have to go from other's experiences. Plus I don't know any shops that could do the custom job, and I don't know the specific parts to ask them to use, so end of the day I was thinking I might as well consider paying the extra money for the sure thing.

I thought the best option was RD Sport, but I've also heard the Remus is pretty good, so I'm just trying to get a sense of what would be the best choice.

Do you know which custom exhaust has little or no drone, and sounds pretty good?

I'm so confused...

Anybody read this:

Does this apply to RDSport Exhausts?

If you want RDSport quad exhaust, you should buy freed0m's barely used one. New will run you close to $3K. The link you posted above is warning people to avoid Electrodyne/Racing Dynamics in North America. The real Racing Dynamics does business in North America as RDSport but elsewhere as Racing Dynamics.

As far as droning goes, there are a lot of people who have Remus or RDSport and claim neither have droning. Remus and RDSport exhausts are not loud obnoxious exhausts, if that is what you are looking for. They both have a deep rumble. Having said that, SocalM5Mang has a custom Remus setup that sounds amazing at the fraction of the cost of a RDSport setup.

Thanks for the info, I was looking at the RDSport quads from Freedom, it does sound like a sweet deal, but it's still expensive and I wouldn't mind spending signigicantly less if possible. I was looking at that link and was wondering if they didn't sell parts in the US, but thanks for the clarification.

I'm not looking for anything loud or obnoxious, just something with a little more rumble than stock, and no droning. I saw the custom Remus you referred to and it looks like I could even bring those pictures to a shop, it's too bad there are no clips. I'm guessing that you've heard that exhaust in person, how does it compare to the RDSport or Remus 530i quad. Is it about the same loudness?

Thanks again...

Trust me when I tell you that if you get the same setup as SocalM5Mang, you will love it. There are clips of his exhaust, you just need to search for it.
