I asked a BMW test driver / instructor from BMW Germany on a BMW road show last year.. I had my 330xd remapped from 204bph to 250bhp and asked him about the engine life. He said it is possible to do it but you need to take care of your engine much better - oil, service, quality gas, warmup, cooldown (Meaning driving from Prague to Munich 260Km/h all the way and then stopping on a gas station needs having the engine cooldown for at least 2 minutes)..
