What rubbish,as long as the car has been well looked after and serviced at the specified time's there are member's on here with car's 100k+and over six year's old which have had remap's and have had no trouble at all but make sure the remapping company has a good track record before committing to anything.
I had my 530d E61 remapped with somewhere around 95K KM and it was just about 4 years old. The tuning company that did the remap, Wetterauer, would only offer a guarantee up to 100K KM, which I did not purchase for those few KM I still had to go until that limit. I cannot remember if there was a limit on the age of the car. So you may find some companies refusing to remap old cars or cars with higher KM because of guarantee issues, i.e. at that stage parts are older etc and the cars may have had a tough life, so higher risk of faults with or without the remap.
Just shop around until you find the right tuner.
