One small thing to keep in mind is that on many DVD players, the DVD slot is on the side. Depending on how things fit, it may be difficult to insert a DVD if the seats are close to the sides of the unit. The Nextbase units have a side-loading slot.

That's one of the advantages of the unit I have -- the discs load from the top of the player.

I'm not trying to push Audiovox but I took a quick look at their site to see what they had that compares to the Nextbase models. They have some similar side-loading units but with built-in infrared (wireless) headphone capability. To me, that's another big plus. (take a look here for more information) The downside to Audiovox is that they don't have the threaded mounting hole that matches up to the proclip mount.
You're right Rudy...I have to tilt my dvd palyer sideways to load/unload a dvd. No big deal really.
Still have to install a rear power plug though..

As long as you have a workaround, then it's not such a big deal, I guess.

My unit doesn't have a disc tray, it just has a slot where you insert the disc (like the slots in the dashboard...)

Size wise, yours looks about perfect -- mine is big and that can be nice but it's probably overkill for the E60.

Oh yeah, just a disc slot is pretty convenient ! I guess I'm pretty happy with the size, will be enough for my little girl !

On my wish list is a setup similar to our fellow member Justin - the ultimate entertainment setup for rear passenger kids !!

Andy - what size is that player? I'm still deciding between the 7" and 8.5" Nextbase unit. Obviously, a larger screen might be nice for the kids, but I don't want it to be overkill either.

Oh, and from the website, it looks like the new ones are slot-in, instead of the "tray system."

I've got the Nextbase SDV185-SD, which is the 8.5" unit, mounted between the front seats with the same Brodit mount. Certainly wouldn't say it's overkill, looks spot on to me. Will try to post some pics in the next few days.

Btw, I believe there are two versions of the Nextbase SDV185. There's the -SD and the -A. The -SD (which I have) is slot loading on the side, and the -A is tray loading to the same side.

I have the 7" model SDV-27.

I say go for the 8.5" and maybe consider the brodit headrest mount. The central one between the seats sits a little low I think, OK for adults - but possibly too low for kids.

I have the 7" model SDV-27.

I say go for the 8.5" and maybe consider the brodit headrest mount. The central one between the seats sits a little low I think, OK for adults - but possibly too low for kids.
I did finally decided to order the 8.5" - it's only 1.5" wider than the 7" model, and the height is about the same.

The only problem with the headrest mount is that I have two kids in the back, so I'd like the screen to be in the middle. They do have a mount that attaches to the headrest, and then has a flexible arm that extends out in the area between the seats. That could be nice, since the screen would be elevated, but I thought the center console mount looks a little more integrated.

Thanks for the advice.
