Rear Console in Poplar

My Ride: 2008 535i: June 6th start build, complete June 17th, at NY Port July 5th, at dealer July 10th, took delivery Friday July 13- Plantimum Bronze/Natural Brown Leather/Light Poplar, Sport Package, Sport Auto, Active Steering, Premium Package, CWP & PDC. Dinan Performance Software 384hp & 421 ft/lbs.
I ordered the Poplar, with sockets, without heaters panel yesterday, should be in a few weeks. What is the procedure for removing the old panel and specifically for removing the 12v socket/ light. I see some of you broke the piece or a least had a lot of trouble. Anybody know the easy way.

Looking for cig/DC outlet, talk to me. I changed mine to the plain jane. Pics on this website. I didn't have heated seats so went without. Agree with post about smoking buddies in back and the CD player. I don't see a need for mine so I'll give it up. You have two choices, without DC outlet or with DC outlet and heated seats.

My car came with the poplar trim and the buttons for the rear heated seats!
But in Germany we don't get power outlets in the rear for some unknown reason, like we don't have the trunk release button...
