The diagrams show the view from the left of the car, are parts listed as "left" correspond with that side of the car?

R&L are always from the driver's side, except when they're not.... j/k - def driver's side.

left is driver side which is why those jdm import cars are called right hand drive cars (because there driver side is on the other side)

Part numbers ending in odd number is on the Left side(Driver side for US Spec models).
Ex.
Brake pad wear sensor, front left 1 34356776421 $30.00

It's easier to simply think of the right and left of a car if you picture yourself sitting in the car, facing forward, without worrying about where the steering wheel is placed...
