Does anyone have any opinion(s) on which radar detector is the best. I want to have whichever one I go with hard wired into the rear view mirror. I am thinking of the Valentine. but you still need laser protection?

http://www.aftermarketbulbsshop.com/Escort...-pas-9500ix.htm

The ultimate.. hooks up via USB to the computer to update the database of stationary cameras as well as redlight cameras and uses GPS to know when you are in the "danger zone" etc etc.. also covers Laser and all known bands used by the heat the description of the item says it all

What is your car model and year , you need to look a the DIY section on Hard wire installs, if you have a LCI you will be in for some "FUN" with the install...lol

Don't listen to every one unless they have an LCI, the wiring up there is different compared to the DIY on the PRE Lci E60...

i wouldn't hardwire anyway. better to put it in the glovebox! thieves are getting smarter and are looking for the V1's by the rearview mirror now. better just pop batteries in and take it off everytime you leave the car sit for a longer period of time.

I have a Vert so I def. take my detector off everytime i even walk into a store

I've got a hardwired V1 and so far I like its performance. It doesnt have every feature of the Passport 9500 as far as I know, but since its installation I havent been nabbed by the pigs yet...

I believe C's Bimmer has a hardwired V1 in his LCI M5, believe it's saved him a few times.....

I have used the Escort Passport SRX in my last 2 BMWs (04 Z4, and my 08 535xi) - plus my truck (06 F150) and my wife's Volvo (I know I know... but she felt the 328xi was too much car for her) and have nothing but praise for it. Many swear by the Valentine - so i am sure that is a good choice. The SRX has laser jammers built in and can be installed discretely (I have a small LED mounted in my line of sight, and a mute button on the console to shut off the sound when/as needed). In my Z4 I even had an extra speaker mounted directly behind my seat so i could hear it clearly at 120 mph with the top down. The SRX is nice in that regard - giving you alot of options that other units do not.

oh man, i wish i understood what you were referencing. I have a 2008 BMW 535i. i am clueless with electronic wiring. does hardwiring the unit void the warranty?
