i wouldn't hardwire anyway. better to put it in the glovebox! thieves are getting smarter and are looking for the V1's by the rearview mirror now. better just pop batteries in and take it off everytime you leave the car sit for a longer period of time.

I have a Vert so I def. take my detector off everytime i even walk into a store
i have read that using batteries cuts down on the effectiveness of the unit. my friend hardwired his V1 and can take it down and store it each time

I have used the Escort Passport SRX in my last 2 BMWs (04 Z4, and my 08 535xi) - plus my truck (06 F150) and my wife's Volvo (I know I know... but she felt the 328xi was too much car for her) and have nothing but praise for it. Many swear by the Valentine - so i am sure that is a good choice. The SRX has laser jammers built in and can be installed discretely (I have a small LED mounted in my line of sight, and a mute button on the console to shut off the sound when/as needed). In my Z4 I even had an extra speaker mounted directly behind my seat so i could hear it clearly at 120 mph with the top down. The SRX is nice in that regard - giving you alot of options that other units do not.
thank you, appreciate the insight
