It could be "line level" (unamplified with no volume control) or "headphone level" (for headphones, with volume control on the device), but it's still analog. (Some manufacturers embed a digital/optical connection inside of what appears to be a 1/8" audio jack, but a "true" 1/8" audio jack is always analog.)
Thanks das. I quess it won't do me any good to hook an SACD or DVD audio player to the AUX.
I do wish we had one or the other or a both-in-one player in the single slot to go with the L7--assuming L7 would play all the channels. Would it? As mentioned, I think L7 will play multichannel, for example, SIRIUS broadcasts. Right?

Thanks a lot guys... Right now I'm using the normal stereo jack... may be thats why the fit is not perfect... I'll try the 1/8" jack and see...
I can't help you with the details because I have not fooled with the Aux. Some need to have some sort of retro fit to use their iPods.

I dont think there is any retrofit to be done to make the iPod work,,, its just another mp3 player... as long as you plug in hte audio output to the aux input.. it works fine..

Actually on a TV or DVD player you would need the AUX Input and cable connection to get the audio portion into the sound system. Any device that has an headset or line out could be connected. I use a cassette player often times, I have old portable CD players also will interface with aux, and if you had a portable CD changer you could use that as well, provided it has a output connector. Most any brand of MP3 player works as well. Even PDAs with a headset output could be connected. I believe stream covered most of this as well.
