Well i finally received my M5 (non oem) kit. My question is:

How did you have it painted? What i mean is did you have them painted individually by pieces and then installed them on car afterwards or, did you or someone else installed it on the car, drove it to paint shop (with 2 tone color haha) and then have the shop remove it and then painted? What will i be looking at in terms of cost? The paint shop i'm considering is who my dealers go to for paint repairs. Would they overprice because they "specialize" on BMWs? Would you recommend going to any shop, that is reputable ones at least?

Sorry for all the questions but i wanna make sure i do this right. Any ideas, recommendation, pointers, tips, etc. etc. i'd really appreciate. thanks!

Paint them first, then install them. Prices vary depending on locations. It ranges from $500-$1000. You should shop around for quotes. Some local members might be able to give you some recommendation. GL

Thanks X. yeah this is what i had originally thought. my concern was scratching the paint during the installing, man that would suck. is installation pretty easy?

Its easy if you know what you're doing.

Are you doing it yourself? Or having the body shop do it?

Could be fun if you had some help. It might be frustrating doing it yourself the first time around.

You want 2 people to remove and install a bumper so it doesnt get all scratched up.

the sides look like a piece of cake to install, but which one is more difficult to install, the front or the rear? i'm guessing the fronts are because they have the grill, ports and fog.

I had the parts that I ordered, from Trinity, sent to the body shop. Then just dropped my ride off there and they installed and painted. I know it cost a little more but the shop said the main reason to have it all done there is 1. pre painted pieces can get scratched during install and 2. you want to be absolutely certain that the paint matches up exact. Install, painting and the cost of having to buy new fogs all came out to about 1500. Mind you that price does not include the actual mtech parts thats just the cost for install, paint and fogs. Good luck!
