Of course the vendors will push forged since they make more money if they sell you DPE's over VMR.

i cant tell you how many times ive bent a cast wheel and how my forged wheels have never bent, they are lighter, stronger and are made is my custom size and offset

you know whats funny? custom wheels have more margin but they also cost WAY MORE for a shop to get, i bet the ratio of profit to actual wholesale is almost the same between cast and forged wheels

$500 wholesale for cast wheels that sell for $1100 compared to $3000 wholesale that sell for $6000 ya know?

i have VMR wheels, they are cheap cast wheels that are ultra heavy and look like every other cast wheel design out there, if you are happy with them thats fine but taking a dump on forged wheels because you cant or wont spend the money isnt a good play

Forged wheels are not soley multi-piece, i.e. DPE Monoblocs are 1 piece forged.

If you compare similarly-designed wheels (19" cast vs 19" forges, or 20" cast vs 20" forged), the forged wheels always stronger and are often 20% - 30% lighter than the cast wheels. I had a set of 20" cast wheels that weigh 38 lbs, yikes! The 20" forged wheels I have now weigh about 25 lbs.

The higher unsprung weight for the cast wheels also have higher rotating mass: which causes the car to accelerate slower and brake slower (wear out your brake pads quicker). The heavier wheels also makes the steering heavier and make the ride rougher (because your suspension now has more weight to control, the extra weight takes more time to move up and down). You'd be surprised how big a different a few pounds makes.

Personally, I would pick a set of used set of forged wheels over a set of cast wheels any day. however, sometimes good used forged wheels are hard to find.

I did not weigh just the VIP Module forged wheel before installation, but with tires inflated at 35 psi, both OEM style 124 18" (cast?) and 20" VIP forged weighted equally at 60 lbs (+/- 1 lb). This is significant weight savings considering +2 size.

Xenonrider's post pretty much summed up the perforamance difference going from 18" cast to 20" forged. You definitely feel the advantage and the nimble in acceleration and braking...but at a cost.
