I'm sure you can put a few resonators in there to minimize the droning.
What can be done to eliminate droning altogether, or at least droning below 2500 rpm? Will going with larger mufflers in additional to a box resonator (chambered) do the trick? I was thinking about putting back the OE box resonator behind the x-pipe and see if that will do the trick. The last thing I want to do is replacing the mufflers with with larger ones.

Did your RDsport (is that right) system have any droning at any rpm/acceleration/deceleration conditions?

I believe there are hybrid x-pipe/resonators available to help out with the droning. I don't think the RDSport exhaust droned at all. I loved the sound of that exhaust. Frederico, of RDSport, was supposed to fabricate an exhaust for my E63 but I can't wait months for it. So, I went and got the Renntech. I'm hoping it gets done so I can sell the Renntech when it becomes available.

E63 has one resonator. It has primary and secondary cats like the M5. I don't think it drones at all, well maybe a little bit around 2K rpm. Can't really remember b/c it's a garage queen.

I'm going to try put the box resonator back on and see if that will help with the <2K rpm droning issues. Since I've got 2 cherry bombs in the rear, it'll still be louder than stock but hopefully not obnoxiously annoy. Ya, that box resonator will restrict some airflow, but I think it should be OK.

On the e63 and m5, I'm wondering if all the stock components are active during low engine rpm. Under considerable acceleration, it growls harder which may indicate additional opening of airflow on the exhaust system - somewhere. On the 545i, it's the second muffler.

Bimmer32,
Here is the hybrid xpipe that Joe might mean
http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/serv...760549_-1_10265

This would help reduce droning. Please keep us updated.

WOW. An x-pipe in a muffler/resonator casement. If the stock box resonator won't do the trick, I'll try this baby out. Thanks for the link. At this point, I'm willing to go with tube and chamber resonators to rid the droning and louder than desired idle sound level. Right now, the idle sound level is just a tad lower than a diseal rig. I should get a db meter.

Evening times are short now, but I should have some more video clips by Friday. As always, detail . . . detail description.

This looks nice. If you try it, let me know. the sound is cool and all, but after a while it is freaking loud. hahaha.

Nigxoof, the dynomax flow x muffler (17552) 4.5 x 9.5 will not fit in the location. I'm just wonder how much decibels the stock center resonators will lower . . . I'll find out soon.
