My Ride: 2004 545i - 6 speed manual (July 04 build), silver-grey/black, sports package std equipment (18", active roll, active steering, adaptive headlights), premium sound, bluetooth enabled, folding rear seat, lumbar, 3m hood/bumper protective film, rear tint, euro reflectors.
There is about 10 threads if you search the mods section on this topic. What relates to the 545 is going to be the same for the 550.
Here is the brief summary for dual exhaust:
Eisenmann - about 1.5K. Not a real dual as it has one muffler on the left and wraps a pipe to the right side with a plate that looks like a muffler. The sound is supposed to be good and not too loud. Increase flow is questionable.
Hamann - about 3.5k. Again not a true dual system. It wraps a small pipe and muffler to the right side from the main muffler on the left. The sound is good and not too loud - I believe. I have this system on order. Flow is probably similar to the eisenmann.
RDS - true dual system if you remove the rear box resonator. Two mufflers (one on each side). I like the system and although it is quieter than the B&B, I believe it will be a little louder than my liking, but is really not bad. The fit is perfect with the right side muffler. Flow will definately be improved.
The stock system is really pretty good. The second muffler on the rear has a vacuum operated valve that opens up on high throttle to provide more flow. I think the performance gains with any of these systems will be minor. I am doing it for looks and sound.
As for the cutout of the second set of pipes. The options are a new rear defuser/apron. Some of the options are Hamann and RDS as well as a couple of others. I believe Hamann is working on a defuser for the Mkit.
If you like the stock rear, your other option is to make the cutout. If you really want the cutout to match, you need to form a tunnel. I have just done this (a lot of work) and will post pics in a couple of weeks when I get my Hamann system.

Do you guys know any quad exhasts for 550i? I dont anything too expensive. I was also wondering if a quad exhaust would fit the 550i with M aero kit. If you guys have any pics or tips please reply. Thanks

If what's under the hood doesn't represent the quad exhaust in the tail, I wouldn't do it even for the looks. You don't want an AMG to think they beat an M5 when in fact it's a 550i.

precisely my point. But since AMG beats both 550i and m5 , it isnt that much of a concern

I am adding quad exhaust for looks and some sound - I am not trying to look or be an M5. And, with a 545i badge, I don't think anyone would mistake me for an M5. I also understand that it is not going to make a squat bit of difference in my 1/4 mile time, but I am not racing.
In fact, I have always wondered why BMW does not put the duals on the sport models. It looks good. Infinity does it on both the G & M series, Cadiallac does it, Acura does it, MB does it....

I'm not an engineer by any standards but does a quad exhaust improve performance, apart from looking cool.
