Project ICE - Matte White E60
#51
Another update from this weekend. With the quad tip setup complete I was able to finally wrap my rear bumper and at the same time fix a PDC issue I ran into whilst putting this bumper on the first time. I took a few more pics during the process as I had a little more time this Saturday.
Rear bumpers comes off once again.
While getting some spare PDC senors ready I broke one in half while using a heat gun to help separate it from the PDC holder that came with my MTech rear bumper. Here is a pic in case you want to see how it looks cut in half
I was testing out to place a mesh grill on the rear bumper but decided to opt out as it didn't look nice and also did not match the honeycomb grill I have up front. Will look for the honeycomb grill some other time.
With the rear bumper back on and the PDC issue out of the way I was ready to wrap it. My girlfriend is out of the country so it was much harder to put on the vinyl to get things started. I had to use a very large piece just to keep part of it on the ground to make it easier to put on.
Once I was able to get part of it stuck on the bumper it was smooth sailing.

In the last picture you might notice my left license plate light is dropping. I realized not to long ago that I broke one of the tabs when working on the trunk weeks ago. Ordered a new pair from John. Also the common problem with this bumper is the center area is not completely straight. Will straighten that out next week. I really wanted to get more work done on the car today but it was so tired. Next week I hope to complete the rear calipers, vinyl wrap door handles and hopefully (fingers crossed) get those NVDs M5 mirrors installed.

Dual (quad tip) Eisenmann sport exhaust arrived today. I have been really looking forward for this specific part for so long. Very excited to finally have it and hope to get it on soon. Took a quick snap shot while it was in the box as I didn't want to unpack as I will have to haul it out to the garage this weekend.
I also got in some vinyl samples as well. I plan on going with a darker color over the winter and at this point I am set on 3m's Matte Dark Gray, which in the photo is the one I spread out. The others from left to right are... Matte Black, Matte Metallic Blue, Satin Black and Matte Silver.
I hope to get some time this Sunday to paint my calipers and at the same time tape these samples on the car so I can get a better idea of how the car will look.

Great work!! I have been pondering painting my calipers white as well. They look great on your car.

Thanks!
Thanks! Yeah, the white calipers actually turned out rather nice. I still haven't done my rears. Was going to do it today but won't be able to. They don't stand out as much when the car is at a stand still but once its rolling it looks really cool. Maybe if one has M6 rims or something like the new M5 rims they will really stand out. Once the project is done I hope to get some rolling shots.

Very nice. I am actually thinking of wrapping my M5 in matte white just for kicks. That's why I looked at the thread. I saw you were considering doing the mesh in the rear diffuser and didn't like your mesh (I don't like it either) so I thought I'd post a pic of my custom rear mesh that is being installed in my Vorsteiner CF rear diffuser as we speak. We used the OEM mesh from the lower front grille on the M5 and cut it to fit. IMO it came out extremely nice. Our cars really need this.

Thanks!
That is awesome. Yeah, I really wanted to get something there and the mesh didn't look right and thought the OEM grille would be much better since it would also match the front. Thanks for posting the pic. Did you guys screw it on or just use zip ties?
BTW, are you going with the OEM M5 rear bumper? The reason I ask is I am looking for an M5 diffuser, but not sure on the fitment since I have an M5tech rear bumper.
