I had the same quote when I had my E39, installed Bilstein sport shocks + H&R sport springs. It required removal of the backseats etc. While my friend's E46 328i was an easy change; rear struts were accessible from the trunk ~~ 2.5 hrs max. As Eugene mentioned I could be wrong as well.

well i am only getting quote for the springs only, $390 dollars!!!
Not that much more for springs + struts. They're pretty much gonna have to go through the same process. I don't think there'd much of a price difference b/w springs only vs. springs + struts replacement. The only difference may be the removal and replacement of the struts.
$390 for installation?! that's bonkers! if they plan on taking 6.5 hrs to install, they obviously do not have experience w/BMW's!
locally, i've been quoted $200 for installation. but there's out here in SoCal.
good luck.

Wanted to add lowering springs to my 550, but was quoted $550ish from one shop and $780 from another in my area not including the springs! By the way, both of these shops were very familiar with BMW's. I would jump on the opportunity to do it for $390 plus springs. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of options in SC.
