Found a solution to my Angel Eye Error problem!
Found a solution to my Angel Eye Error problem!
I had the same problem with the light out error codes after upgrading my 2007 530d halogen headlights to LCI halogen headlights. I live in South Africa so I think my car will be the European speck, but am not sure.
At first I connected the two 5W Angel Eye (AE) wires in parallel to the one 10W AE of the LCI headlight. In this configuration I got bulb out warnings on the right side only, the moment I switch on the lights. What was weird is that I only got the warnings on the right side.
After a lot of research I connected a 17W, reverse, light in parallel over the AE. This reduced the errors but they still came intermittently. I in am sure that in the mornings, when it was cold, the warnings came more often.
I then try the 10W MTECH v3 LED AE’s from the lighting wizard John@Motorcepts, a member of the form. He guaranteed me that he’s LED AE will not throw errors in my configuration. But guess what after installation I still got intermittent errors from the I-Drive but now from both sides.
I was now getting desperate and the f@*^n beeping was driving me nuts! So I decided to again check all the wiring of the headlights. While having the lights out I thought to myself let’s just try one last thing witch I then did and now it looks like I am error free.
What I did was to remove the parallel AE connection. I then wired in a 5W bulb on the one wire and connected the other one to the MTECH v3 LED AE’s and I do not have the dimness problem that was describe in this post.
So what solved my problem? I believe it was a combination of two things.
Firstly the LED AE that is rated as 10W must not be drawing 10W of current otherwise the I-Drive would not have been happy. But it must have some mechanism to cancel the I-Drive warnings.
Secondly wiring in the w5 bulb satisfies the one channel, as per speck, and obviously the I-drive is happy with that.
