did you get a estimate quote for the chip cmans? i need to find the engine model of my car, is it on the panel on the driver's side?
Hey Pal - they actually have a chip for your engine. I'm assuming your engine puts out the 184HP...

http://www.powerchipgroup.com/interact/dat...asp?pid=Bmw0143

Cost is $490.

Vegastrashed brings up a great point. We should all consider this before committing any dollars to this remap. We should call Powerchip and ask them if they will accept a full refund if we have a dyno test performed before and after and find no gains. I think that's a fair question. Alpinewhite - Want to make the call?

I've been speaking to Matthew Booker at Powerchip Inc. I've been asking them for months about a chip for the N52 engine in the 530i/xi (Stock HP: 255). They currently have a chip available for the 2004/2005 E60 530i (Stock HP:225 / Powerchip HP: 238), but nothing for the newer engine.

Anyway, he told me that R&D is finishing up and production should be out shortly. He said there's been high demand and they are aware of this. Since I've been hounding him for a while, he told me he would offer a Group Buy to E60.net members, once production was set. No details on how many orders and what the price would be, but just thought I'd throw it out there. Matt's been pretty responsive, so I'm sure I'll hear from him in the coming weeks when it becomes available.

If anyone would be interested, feel free to post something so we can get an idea of how many "YES'" we'd get once the Group Buy becomes avail..

Stay tuned...
I'm interested in the chip for my 2007 530XI. Let me know the details when you have them.

Hey Alpine - You ever hear back from Powerchip about refunding us the money, should a dyno test prove no gains?

First step is going to be seeing the dyno runs that Powerchip has done themselves before and after. Then having someone here do a before and after dyno -- with potential for a refund if not up to what is advertised -- would be great.

If it looks like there is going to be a nice power gain and the price seems fair, I'm interested.

My 2006 530i needs a chip badly, it feels weaker than my 2001 530i even though it supposedly makes 30hp more. So count me in!

Ron - This thread is quite old. I'm not sure where you're located, but if you could let me know, I might be able to point you in the right direction for a place to have an ECU remap done.

Welcome to E60.net.
